My name is Kellie Sherwell, and I am a second year primary education student, currently studying the history of children’s literature. This is an informative website I created for an assignment, aimed to inform my readers about the different versions of Cinderella and the influence it has on a large variety of texts, as well as provide further references to obtain additional information, and resources which will assist educators to bring cinderella into the classroom in a meaningful way.
Introduction
Cinderella is a timeless classic tale, with over 1500 adaptions across the globe, many of which reflect culture and belief. The earliest recorded version of the tale comes from China, dating back to an estimated 618-907 A.D. The most well known is that created by Walt Disney. In 1950, Disney created a cartoon movie of the story with a targeted audience of young girls. Earlier this year (2015), Disney recreated the movie, re-sparking interest of millions across the globe. This website explores different versions beyond Disney, and how the story can be seen within a range of other texts.
