Princes Frogs and Ugly Sisters by Dr. Allan G. Hunter
The 5th chapter of Dr. Allan G. Hunter’s book “Princes Frogs and Ugly sisters” analyses the Grimm brother’s version of Cinderella. Hunter uses his in-depth understanding of the original story, and the themes which it presents to explain how story displays real insights on self-empowerment and sexual maturation, which we could all perhaps learn from, and additionally critiques the well-known “made-to-please” Disney and Perrault version (p.65). He makes great points on why different versions of Cinderella should be introduced to younger people, and is a great read.
